He took them home and they feasted on meat
They then all made bed before the hearth's heat
When suddenly Fitz recalled with a start -
To visit an aunt, he had to depart.
He crawled from the heap of sound-sleeping hounds
He made not a peep and slipped off the grounds

Once on the road he passed near a small farm
He heard a loud crash - it gave him alarm
The sound was a gate swung hard wide open
Through dashed a pig who was chased by two men
As the pig came near, she shouted with dread
"I mustn't stay here - or soon I'll be dead!"

The men seemed quite angry and not to be crossed
So Fitzbratchet ran too - not a moment was lost.
"Those two back there will turn me to bacon -
"A horrible fate, if I'm not mistaken."
The pig and the dog found a stump with a hollow,
slipped under the log and the men could not follow.

It was dark and they crawled into a space
In the grim dim light they saw a strange face
It was a white rabbit with inky black eyes
The pig was surprised - "Just look at the size!"
The rabbit said nothing, he quietly stared
To the pig did Fitz cling - he was rather scared.

Their eyes adjusted and then the pig said,
"Do you see that?" with a nod of her head.
"It will grant you a wish," said the white hare
"It's very dangerous - you'd best beware.
"I asked if it might give me super eyes
"Now the sun's too bright - I can't see the skies."

The pig then became very excited,
"Imagine all the wrongs to be righted.
"One wish, one wish, one wish for anything
Just thinking of it - it makes my ears ring."
The pig then stepped near and spoke her desire
Two wings did appear and made her a flyer.
