Wasabi <Back

The weather was warming up.  The wasabi was getting old.  Yes, yes, it was time again for Iron Chef.

After warming up with a little Settlers of Catan (which the Iron Chef Hiromi was able to win despite Nippon collusion to reveal his Development cards) the chefs were ready to commence.

A wide variety of Wasabi dishes were undertaken: Wasabi and Red Snapper, Wasabi Beef-wrapped Asparagus, Purple Artichoke with Wasabi mayonnaise sauce, Wasabi latke, basically there was wasabi all over the place.  And Kirin Ichiban, there was a good deal of that around too (despite what some may say about Asahi, “Ichiban means good beer”).

“The Kirin is part deer and part dragon; it will deliver good beer, but it might eat your children”

Iron Chefs Hiromi and Araitanuki and special chef Virginia Anderson (from right to left) make Iron Chef cooking look like a sober affair.

Like usual, there was hand to hand combat, wanton and irresponsible consumption of wine, and underhanded attempts to annoy.  Notice the sangfroid of a true Iron Chef.  A true Iron chef never lets his opponents under his skin – he enters a zen like state where outside concerns fail to register – a “stupor” as it is called.
