Basic Personality Types All humanity can be broken into a few simple personality classifications. I have created a list of my proposed classifications. I have used American culture as my descriptive base but I believe that these archetypes will be found in any culture in different manifestations. Notice that there are direct parallels between the first ‘set’ and the second, suggesting that there are actually only 4 personalities and that they vary according to intelligence. This may be so, but I find that true distinction occurs at the intellectual extremities. Note there is no intelligent parallel to the timid stupidity (which is basically a lack of personality) – intelligence alone seems to compel a defining personality out of a person. I should also note that an individual is not limited to one personality (especially those in the ‘intelligent division’) – but only one at a time. For more detailed information see nerds and geeks Humble intelligence These people speak volumes with their eyes. They are watchful, calm, confident and friendly when spoken to yet unlikely to speak first. Dress is neat yet unremarkable. Impetuous Intelligence These people are driven and active – business people. They communicate rapidly, schedule everything, work hard and party hard. Dress is practical to proper. Brooding Intelligence These people are sour due to some unnatural influence. They are suspicious and selfish – not always imposingly so; they can be simply withdrawn and disinterested. Dress ranges from dark to bland. Nerd These people are focused to the point of social impairment. They are naïve (but sometimes masquerading as jaded) and appear smarter than they actually are. Dress ranges from unfashionable to unremarkable. Confident Stupidity These people affect an air of confidence and understanding. They learn from no one and are obsessed with appearances and relationships. Dress is fashionable. Gregarious stupidity These people are overly nice and talkative – irreverent of social boundaries. They don’t understand anything that is bad and for them life is continually wondrous. Dress ranges from unremarkable to ‘eccentric’. Brooding stupidity These people are dumb and angry – they don’t understand anything that is good and for them life is ugly. Dress can range from tattered self loathing to ostentatious punk. Timid stupidity These people are very unnoticeable. They stay out of the way, avoid speaking, avoid listening and perform the bare minimum expected of them. Dress is unremarkable. Geek These people are focused to the point of social impairment. They are naïve and socially clueless. Speech and mannerisms are almost always unsettling. Dress is unfashionable. |
