Design Journal - Battle Boats

<Back

This game was a summer project one summer in college when I had nothing to do. I had just taken a class in openGl and I really felt like I was finally in the position to make, gasp -god forbid- something interesting with my computer science education.

I really wanted to experiment with AI, so I wrote this game around the principles of dog-fighting. It's more of an arena-simulation than a proper game. You manually spawn the enemies, so you set the level of challenge. Of course, the more enemies you fight at one time, the higher your score bonus will be.

I learned a lot about coding games while making battle boats. It's kind of a shame I didn't end up a programmer (but then maybe it isn't, considering how horribly they're treated by management).
