The Story
The reign of profligate decadence must end; the king is corrupt and the very nation and its peoples are threatened by the unscrupulous attentions of foreign powers! Plus, it doesn’t hurt matters that you stand to make scads of money if the king dies. But good help is hard to find these days so you’ve taken it upon yourself to kill the king. The king is throwing one of his usual extravagant parties; all of the aristocracy will be there; the duc d’Poission, Monseigneur Foilibie - the surintendant, even Madame St. Trebelais, and it should be a trifling matter to draw close to the king and deliver him, between his ribs, your pointed opinion. Then, amongst the confusion of the intoxicated revelers (they always are), you can avoid the guards, escape the palace, and ride to Luxembourg where you will wait for the political situation to settle in your favor.
Rules
Your objective is to negotiate the crowd until you reach the king’s side (where you will promptly kill him and then, as the guard closes in, you must evasively seek the sanctuary of the door.
On your turn you may make as many moves as are available to you using the direction buttons. Press the ‘pass’ button to end your turn. The computer will then move the guard (if the alarm has been raised) and calculate the semi-random moves of the other revelers. The results will be updated and you will be able to move again.
How the crowd moves: Starting with the reveler marked with a ‘1’, each reveler will, in turn, move to a random, adjacent, vacant square. If no adjacent square is vacant, the reveler will remain stationary for that turn. Therefore it is possible, although not always easy, to predict where the revelers are likely to move in the following turn and to use them as a screen against the guard who will attempt to move closer to you, first vertically, then horizontally (for a maximum of two squares) every turn after the king has been killed. If the guard moves adjacent to you on his turn, he will capture you.

Be careful, or it won’t be just the king who dies today.
